What to do, if Outlook 2016 for Mac closes unexpectedly
Outlook 2016 for Mac is an excellent email client from Microsoft. But it too can have some problems from time to time. Sometimes those problems are related to the program itself, sometimes it is caused by other programs in conflict or by the OS itself.
Mac OS Sierra is an OS for Mac, and that is known to cause some issues with Outlook 2016. Most commonly, it crashes Outlook unexpectedly at random times or when launching. Some users also report frequent crashes when the connection is moved between different Wifi networks.
One of the solution is to update Mac OS 10.12 Sierra to 10.12.2 release. It might not even fix the frequent crashes of Outlook 2016, but might also increase other performance issues.
If it still doesn’t fix the issue, or you for some reason cannot update your Mac just yet, here is what you can try:
You can try turning off the Auto Proxy Discovery or Automatic Proxy Configuration. Because the most likely the issue is caused by the conflicts with your networks or proxy configurations. By turning off automatic config, Outlook 2016 will avoid any conflicts.
You can do turn if off like this:
- Go to your System Preferences and open ‘Network’ settings
- Click ‘Advanced’ –> ‘Proxies’
- Turn off the ‘Auto Proxy Discovery’ if allowed by your organization admins. If not, contact your admins to let them help you.
When you do update Mac 10.12 to 10.12.2 release, turn the ‘Automatic Proxy Configuration” back on.
