Mbox is a generic file format used for holding emails. All messages in an Mbox file is stored as a plain text.
Many email clients support Mbox file for importing and exporting purposes. Including Mozilla Thunderbird, Entourage, Eudora, Apple mail, etc. It has become quite popular and widely used in Mac, Windows, and Linux operating systems.
However, Microsoft Outlook uses its own proprietary file format, Olm in Mac and Pst in Windows, and doesn’t support any other file format including .mbox. The data transfer between clients like Apple Mail to Windows Outlook can get difficult for this same reason. Not just data migration, if you send .mbox file to a Windows user with Outlook, the receiver wouldn’t be able to open it.
You can use a file converter called “Mail Extractor Pro” to convert the Mbox file to Pst file. It’s an easy to use, straightforward tool for this job.
What’s a PST file?
Just as Mbox is a generic file format used by clients like Apple Mail, Pst is a proprietary native file format used by Windows Outlook. It is an acronym for Personal Storage Table.
Therefore, if you want to import Mbox to Outlook 2010, 2007, 2003, 2013 or Office 365, the only option is to convert .mbox to Pst. And there is no better tool than “Mail Extractor Pro” to do that.

Wait for the tool to convert emails. Once done, copy the Pst files to your Windows and import it to Outlook.
Direct Mac Mail Database
“Mail Extractor Pro” can auto-detect the “Mail” folder in your Mac. It’s an identity folder of Apple Mail where all of your data is stored. This approach makes the tool more intuitive, quick, and accurate because you don’t need Mbox files for this.
To use this option, when you click ‘Load’ in step 2 above, click ‘Auto Load’ instead of ‘Open’ and the tool will get your data itself from “Mail” folder.
